About John C.

P6 English teacher. This site exists because I believe clearer learning matters more than more practice.

I built PSLE Made Easy because I kept seeing the same thing in class: students who worked hard but couldn’t perform, and parents who spent more on tuition but saw diminishing returns.

The problem was rarely effort. It was clarity. Students didn’t need more practice — they needed a clearer picture of what was actually being tested, and a better system for reviewing their own work.

This site is my attempt to give that to every student, not just the ones whose families can afford intensive support.

What this site is — and what it isn’t

PSLE Made Easy is a free learning resource. Every page is designed to give students and parents a clearer understanding of what each paper tests, how marks are awarded, and what a strong answer actually looks like.

It is not a tuition centre. It is not a shortcut. It does not replace the work your child needs to put in — but it does make that work more purposeful.

The site covers English (Paper 1, Paper 2, Oral, Listening Comprehension), Science, and Mathematics. New pages are added regularly as I develop better ways to explain the content.

“Not more tuition. Clearer learning.”

How this site is organised

Every page on this site belongs to one of three areas. Understanding which area you need helps you find the right page faster.

① Know the World

Strong answers in oral and writing do not come from technique alone. They come from knowing enough about the world to speak with genuine depth. The Real-World Knowledge section builds this — one theme at a time, grounded in Singapore context.

② Master the Skills

Each component of PSLE English, Science and Mathematics has its own logic. The subject pages explain what is actually being tested, what strong answers look like at each band, and what specific habits produce better marks.

③ Develop the Learner

Some students have the knowledge and the skills but still underperform. The issue is often confidence, ownership or the habit of learning from mistakes rather than repeating them. Pages like The Tuition Fallacy, How to Build an AL1 Learner and Paper 2 Breakthroughs address this directly.

“Most students need all three. The question is which one they need most right now.”

If your child needs more targeted support

The site is built to help students work more independently. For most families, the pages here — used consistently — are enough to make a real difference.

For students who need more focused, personalised work — whether on a specific component, exam technique, or building confidence under time pressure — I offer small group and individual sessions. These are not mass tuition classes. They are targeted, structured, and built around what your child specifically needs.

If you are considering this, the best first step is a short conversation. WhatsApp 8335 0709 with a brief description of where your child is and what you are hoping to address. I will be honest about whether I think a session would help.

Parent Note

I am not the right fit for every student. If after our conversation I think the free resources here will serve your child well enough, I will say so. My goal is a better outcome for your child — not a filled session slot.

A note on how I think about teaching

I think good teaching is mostly about asking better questions. Not “did you finish the worksheet?” but “do you understand why that answer is wrong?” Not “how many hours did you study?” but “what do you actually know how to do now that you didn’t before?”

I also think most students are more capable than their current results suggest. The gap is usually not ability — it is clarity, habit, and the confidence to think out loud. Those things can be built.

That is what this site is trying to do. And if a conversation with me helps your child get there faster, I am happy to have it.

“Good answers don’t just answer the question. They show you understand people, life, and the world.”
