Parent Note
Technology is a topic P6 children have opinions on instantly — usually "it helps us learn" or "we shouldn't use it too much." Both are true and both are useless on their own, because they don't say anything the examiner hasn't heard from the last ten students.
What earns marks is a child who can describe a specific tool, a specific moment it helped (or didn't), and a real view on limits — not a rule they've memorised from a teacher. Ask your child what app, video, or website actually taught them something recently, and how.

“The examiner has heard 'technology helps us learn' a hundred times today. What they have not heard is which app, video, or tool actually changed something for you — and whether you can admit technology also gets in the way sometimes. That honesty is what they're listening for.”
① Read the Picture First ▼
Before answering any question, spend ten seconds reading the picture properly. Not just "students with a camera." Look at what stage of the project they're at, and what the production board is telling you.
What you can see

An Action Q(a) like this wants you to read past the equipment and name the goal. "They are filming a video" describes the scene. A stronger answer explains what the video is for and why they're going to this much trouble to make it.

Why this works: Names the video plan, the production roles, and the tips card specifically — and uses all three to explain the goal behind the activity, not just the activity itself.

The Question
“Tell me about a time when technology helped you learn something.”
Q(b) wants one specific tool, one specific thing you learned, and how it actually helped — not a general statement that "the internet is useful."
What a weak answer sounds like
“Technology helped me learn because I can search for information online whenever I need to.”
No specific moment, no specific tool, no specific thing learned. This could describe anyone's entire life, not one experience.
What a stronger answer sounds like
“Last term, I was really struggling with long division and couldn't understand it no matter how many times my teacher explained it in class. My mother showed me a video on Youtube where someone drew the steps out slowly and paused to explain each part. I watched it three times, pausing it myself each time, and by the third time I could finally do a long division sum on my own. What helped wasn't just watching a video — it was being able to pause and rewind at my own pace, which I couldn't do in class.”
Why this works: Specific subject, specific tool, specific struggle — and an honest reason why the technology helped that goes beyond "it explained things."

④ Q(c) — Broader Opinion ▼
The Question
“Do you think children should have limits on their use of technology? Why or why not?”
Q(c) is asking you to hold two sides — technology's benefits and its risks — and still land on a clear position. The trap is a flat "yes, too much screen time is bad" without any nuance.
What a weak answer sounds like
“Yes, children should have limits because too much screen time is bad for their eyes and health.”
A rule repeated without reasoning. No mention of what "too much" even means, or when technology is actually worth the time.
What a stronger answer sounds like
“I think it depends on what the technology is being used for, not just how long. If I'm using a video to understand a maths concept, that time is different from scrolling through videos with no purpose. So instead of just limiting hours, I think it makes more sense to ask whether the time is being spent learning or just passing time. I do think some limit is still needed, though — even useful technology can become a distraction if there's no boundary at all, and I've noticed I focus better when I know I only have a set amount of time to use it.”
Why this works: Distinguishes purposeful use from mindless use, still arrives at a clear position on limits, and backs it with a personal observation.

Technology is a topic every student has strong opinions on, which is exactly why most answers turn into a list of pros and cons. The way to stand out is to be honest about your own relationship with technology — including the parts that aren't flattering.
Ask yourself: after sharing your personal experience, can you take one more step?
